Daddy,
From my first breath
Until your last
Our time filled with joy
We had such a blast
The wonderful days
That forever i’ll cherish
And though you’ve moved on
The memories won’t perish
You made me laugh
You made me cry
Now my brightest star
That lights up the sky
You taught me things
To help me through life
From cradle to classroom
From waitress to wife
In our garden i’d learn
To sand and to paint
To use hammer and nails
As you sheltered my wheelbarrow
From troublesome gales
I’d sit on our doorstep
Each friday night
Waiting for you
To hold me tight
You’d make up stories
And have my mind spun
Our weekends together
Filled with adventure and fun
From a dad to a friend
My true inspiration
Always on hand
With random information
We’d laugh and say
You were set in your ways
But always there
through our darkest hours
And most difficult days
You’d play ‘Free Bird’ forever
For hours on repeat
So loud that the chorus
Could be heard from the street
We’d listen to Rory, Eric and Van
As you’d welcome us into
Your musical bubble
And The Beatles
To carry us through
Our times of trouble
Caring for you
Has been my greatest pleasure
And our final moments
I’ll always treasure
You didn’t want to leave me
But i’ll be ok
Because i know in my heart
We’ll meet again
One day.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
